Local organizations team up to give Pine Ridge youth a holiday to remember

RAPID CITY, S.D. (Dec. 9, 2014) – The American Advertising Federation of the Black Hills, Lakota Voice Project and Circle K, a student group at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, have teamed up to lend a hand this holiday season and help at-risk youth and suicide survivors have a holiday to remember. On Sunday, Dec. 21, ten teenagers on the Pine Ridge Reservation will receive stockings, a small gift and a warm meal donated by Mike’s Catering, Black Hills Barbeque, Anything’s Possible Catering and Nosh Mobile Eatery and Catering.

“With the holidays upon us, let us remember the youth, for it’s always a hard time. Many are without family, and every day is a struggle. These kids need things to make their bodies feel good. They are dealing with some pretty tough living conditions, and I want to make sure each young person gets something nice for the holidays.” said Yvonne “Tiny” DeCory, founder of the Bear Program, a Pine Ridge suicide prevention group.
