Do Big Things - Branding a Destination

What role does a destination’s brand play in tourism marketing? Why do brands such as “Virginia is for Lovers” and “Do Big Things” resonate with the public? Join us at October’s meeting to hear from BCF, the advertising agency behind Visit Rapid City’s successful brand as they discuss their branding process, as well as provide a review and analysis of other iconic brands, highlighting why they work.

Keith Ireland has been with BCF for over ten years, during which he’s had the opportunity to showcase his amazing ability to bring to life, in the most powerful and colorful way, the brand essence of every product and destination we represent. Keith has covered a lot of ground within the advertising industry, serving as Creative Director, Art Director, Copywriter, Film Editor, Photo Retoucher, Package Designer and Illustrator and just about everything in between. The work he’s created in those roles has gained recognition in many award shows including Print Design Annual, Communication Arts, Graphis, Summit Awards, ADDYs, HSMAI Adrian Awards, Telly Awards and Communicator Awards.

​Joslyn Stein has spent the last several years leading clients in the travel and tourism industry in just about every location in the country and abroad. Her work in Client Services affords her the experience of working with a diverse range of accounts – from boutique resorts to large DMO’s, iconic destinations and everything in between.

Joslyn’s background in digital marketing and website design, in addition to traditional advertising means she is able to service her clients with an arsenal of industry knowledge, regardless of her unique client’s needs.

Stacie Granum is a native South Dakotan, from Yankton, SD and has worked in the advertising and marketing industry for more than 15 years.  Stacie’s earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Sioux Falls.  She is currently the Vice President of Marketing for Visit Rapid City, marketing the Rapid City area as a convention and leisure destination while also promoting economic growth for the last seven plus years. Prior to this she was the Director of Account Services for a local advertising and marketing agency, marketing various businesses in Rapid City and throughout the Midwestern region of the country. Stacie has been part of award winning campaigns for Visit Rapid City including a Denver Broncos Campaign which was awarded the Destiny Award by U.S. Travel. When she’s not marketing Rapid City and the beautiful Black Hills to the rest of the world, Stacie loves spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
